"Come on, you promised you'd sit with me while Kai finished our project," Zane whined as he tried to drag me to the computer lab.
"I know, but Roman just asked me if I could meet him in the library really quickly," I said, trying not to laugh at the pout on Zane's face. "I'll only be a minute."
"Oh, please, Roman is going to keep you the whole time," Zane sulked.
"I won't let him," I replied, but he wasn't convinced.
"What if I just go with you?" he suggested, shrugging his shoulders.
"That would leave Kai all alone, and you know I hate that," I said.
"You only hate it because he hacks into your socials every time you give us more attention than him," Zane teased.
"Yeah, and last time, he posted a ton of embarrassing pictures of me," I replied with a laugh. "The double chins... I was so hideous."
Zane laughed as he reached up to cup the side of my face, brushing his thumb across my chin. My laughter died down as he stared at me. Electricity was crackling between us, and I held my breath, unsure of what to do. I don't want to pull away, but I'm also a little bit scared.
"Double chins... Hideous," Zane scoffed softly. "Would it make you feel better to know that I thought those pictures were cute?"
My face flamed as embarrassment coiled in my belly.
